Dairy and soy free dutch oven bread. No kneading. No fuss. Just mix up the ingredients and GO!
Ingredients:
1/2 cup of unsweetened original almond milk (WARM)
1 cup of water (WARM)
2 tsp of rapid rise yeast (1 pack)
1/2 teaspoon of granulated sugar
1/2 tbsp salt
1 egg
1 tbsp oil (olive oil works great, but any oil will do)
4 cups of all purpose flour
Instructions:
Add the yeast and sugar to the warm water and set off to the side. In roughly 5 minutes you will notice the mixture start to foam (that's when its ready).
In a separate bowl mix together the flour and salt.
Once you see the yeast/water/sugar mixture foam, add the egg and warm milk and whisk together.
Add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients.
Once you have fully mixed these together, put the dough into an oiled dutch oven and cover with lid. In roughly an hour or two the dough will double in size.
When the dough has doubled, preheat your oven to 450 F. Then take the dough out and knead it to form it into a ball again.
Put the dough in preheated oven and cook for roughly 40-50 minutes. Be sure to remove the lid and cook for 10 minutes before the bread is done. This will give you a deeper color and your bread will be crisper on the outside.
When the bread is done cooking, pull it out of the dutch oven and let it cool on a baking rack. Wait at least 30 minutes before you cut it.
